first contact AV performance is a Bio Art exploration by Axel Cuevas Santamaría, MFA candidate at The Ohio State University. In this work, the artist uses microscopic video recordings of slime mould Physarum polycephalum. The recordings are analyzed using Max/MSP and Jitter to provide the sonification atmosphere of this AV performance.
“A very similar flow of nutrients runs also in my blood stream. Are we any different from micro organisms in a VR world?
Oh shady creeper from rotten logs,
you stream substance like my blood.
I wonder, do we differ in the VR world?
~ Axel Cuevas Santamaría
